Haiti finished paying its debt to France in 1947. Adjusted for inflation, it was about $560 million. Haiti has also received $20 billion in foreign aid. For comparison, the US loaned Japan $15.2 billion and Germany got $29.6 billion after WW2 (both adjusted for inflation). As of 2024, Japan has invested $800 billion in the US. Tell me again how Haiti couldn't make it work?
