Dr. John Bergsma: “I was a Protestant pastor. Started to have doubts about Protestant theology. Saw that Sola Scriptura didn't work, “faith alone” wasn’t Scriptural. Went back to school. Saw that I would not be recognized as a true Christian by the Early Church. Became Catholic.”

I worry that the brightest and best intentioned Protestants have already left that heresy (inter alios: Bergsma, Hahn, Ashendon, Marshall). What's left is the less well-read but significantly more prideful.

In other words, Offical Catholicism will strongly deny the "ALONE" in Reformed theology, WHAT does this mean?.. Christ PLUS purgatory, PLUS good works, PLUS the sacraments, PLUS indulgences, PLUS the Pope, PLUS the Magisterium, PLUS Marium dogma. PLUS traditions.

All the Catholic converts are not satisfied with the Bible alone. They read the works of man and become Catholics. I was a Catholic and read the Bible, I became a Christian.

@MrCasey62 @Mattman34 Hey AJ, how could Paul have been Sola Scriptura when he died in the 50’s A.D. and the book of revelation and the gospel of John were written in the 90’s A.D.?

@MrCasey62 @Mattman34 Yeah but how could he follow sola Scriptura when books of the NT had yet to even have been written?? John and Revelation came 40 yrs after his death…

@MrCasey62 @Mattman34 I didn’t say he did, he was one of the authors. We follow it because revelation has been complete.

Most Protestants commenting here aren't advancing their case by posting rhetoric & insult instead of substantial rebuttal. Is anyone interested in challenging the Dr's reasoning directly, point-by-point? 🧐

Yet for every convert, 8.4 leave. Of the identifying 1.4B Catholics only 30% practicing. Boasting a Protestant priest converts to Catholicism, is only covering up a giant wound with a tiny bandaid. 14% of people born Catholic leave. But let’s concentrate on a few pastors

When you realized Scripture never teaches sola scriptura—what specific verse broke your Protestant framework? Was it 2 Thess 2:15 or something else? The early Church relied on apostolic tradition before the NT was complete.

It's not as simple as that. Yes, his concerns about continuity are valid. And yes the church is in need of centralized authority, Acts 15 testifies to that. But it is naive to then conclude that the RCC represents the early church. Acts 15 testifies against the papacy.

CHRIST is the HEAD of the Body of Christ NOT the Pope in Rome And as long as Roman Catholics push "Papal Supremacy" they are pushing a LIE And are only sowing division among the brethren

OK, lets post videos, instead of talking about theology, you know, Offical Catholicism cannot confess "Christ ALONE" for salvation...

Never mind the church in Rome has such things as: Papal Infallibility, Papal Supremacy, Immaculate Conception of Mary, Transubstantiation, Purgatory NO OTHER PART of the BODY of CHRIST ACCEPTS AS TRUE Indulgences are what caused the Protestant movement Catholics love money

Everyone before and after Jesus either confirms His sayings or adds and detracts from them simultaneously. I'm Sola Jesus. Directly to the Father in Jesus' name. And where any two or more of us gather in His name, He is there with us -- with His Spirit the sole intermediary.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. (1Corinthians 1:18,19).

Catholics are the original Anti-Semites, which is Satanic. Why? Because when the religious leaders of Israel & the nation of Israel plead for the return of Yeshua in faith as the Messiah of Israel per Matt 23:37-39, Hosea 5:15 & 6:2, it's game over for Satan.

How could that man choose the church and did away with the Bible Sabbath and takes full responsibility for it? CATHOLIC CHURCH TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHANGE OF THE SABBATH: "Sunday is our mark of authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact." - Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept. 1, 1923. "The Church [Church of Rome] ... after changing the day of rest from the Jewish Sabbath, or seventh day of the week, to the first, made the third commandment refer to Sunday as the day to be kept holy as the Lord's Day." - Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. 4. p. 153. "You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify." -James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (1917 ed.), pp. 72, 73. "Sunday is founded not on Scripture, but on tradition, and is distinctly a Catholic institution." - Catholic Record, Sept. 17, 1893. "The authority of the church [Church of Rome] could therefore not be bound to the authority of Scriptures, because the Church had changed... the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority." - Canon and Tradition, p. 263. "Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles... From beginning to end of scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first." - Catholic Press (Sydney, Australia, Aug. 1900.
