Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian calls out the double standard surrounding nuclear weapons in the Middle East. “Israel is not a member of the NPT, and they have nuclear weapons in great numbers. So is there any international institution protesting why they have this kind of nuclear weapons?” Pezeshkian contrasted this with the pressure placed on Iran, which remains an NPT member and maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful. REMINDER: A day before the US & Israel launched the war against Iran, Oman’s Foreign Minister said Iran had agreed to give up its stockpile of enriched material and allow for full verification by the IAEA of its nuclear program in negotiations with the US. Iran had already declared it will not build nuclear weapons, and through this proposal, ensured it could not have any nuclear weapons. The US rejected the proposal and launched the war anyway. There was no Iranian nuclear threat before February 28th 2026.
