At the beginning of World War One, Christians comprised 20% of the Ottoman Empire's population. Today, Turkey is only 0.2% Christian and Jewish. Over a decade, starting in 1913 and culminating with the final goal of a "Turkey for the Turks", Ottoman troops, Turkish nationalists, jihadists and Kurdish tribesmen killed a million Greeks and millions more Armenians, Assyrians and other minorities. By the end of the Genocide, thousands of years of Hellenism in Asia Minor were extinguished.
