Democrats are hurting people everyday. On purpose. With no remorse. They claim it’s for some noble cause. Bullshit. What they really want is to reopen the Medicaid loopholes that allow illegal immigrants to access Medicaid, and they want to spend almost $400B to prop up Obamacare subsidies that go straight to insurance companies and NOT you, the patient. And to justify it? They lie. They tell you your premiums will double if they don’t get their way. That is total bullshit. The truth is that the CBO has already scored this. The expiration of those subsidies accounts for just 8% of any premium increase. Is that worth debating? Yes, of course it is. The entire system is flawed because Democrats designed it to be flawed when they created Obamacare. We could start by talking about how subsidies should go to your personal Health Savings Account instead of insurance companies. But let’s be clear: there’s no negotiating while the government is shut down. Period. You don’t get to hold federal workers, military families, and vital services hostage just to push partisan policy demands.

What that means right now, as we come to the end of the year, is that literally hundreds of thousands of people are going to go on the exchanges in their state to choose what health care they want for next year—and all of them are going to see a giant increase in their costs. I talked to one family that’s paying about $300 a month right now for their health insurance. It’s going to jump to, I believe, over $1,800 per month. Can you imagine what’s going to happen when people go online and see they’ll have to pay exorbitant amounts for their health care? They won’t be able to afford it. Many of them will turn away and not pay for it—obviously, they’ll lose their health insurance. And as we know from the old Obamacare discussions, the fewer people who have insurance under our current system, the more everybody pays.

I talked to one family that’s paying about $300 a month right now for their health insurance. It’s going to jump to, I believe, over $1,800 per month. Can you imagine what’s going to happen when people go online and see they’ll have to pay exorbitant amounts for their health care? They won’t be able to afford it. Many of them will turn away and not pay for it—obviously, they’ll lose their health insurance. And as we know from the old Obamacare discussions, the fewer people who have insurance under our current system, the more everybody pays.

More than 6 million people are improperly enrolled and millions more don't use the coverage that they're enrolled in, signaling that there's more people enrolled in the program than there should be - Fifth reason is that patients don't value the coverage. They only are enrolled because the federal government is covering 100% of of the cost for many people. And if the government only covered 90% of the cost, they would choose to spend their own money on something they value more. - The last reason is these subsidies were initially temporary on purpose. They were a response to the pandemic and the pandemic is over. And these are the reasons Congress should let these subsidies expire. They are expensive, they're not well targeted, and they fuel rampant fraud in our healthcare system.”
