A services economy that relies entirely on goods from abroad is at major risk—Covid being the most recent example of this. No one doubts the benefits of comparative exchange, but for some reason economists refuse to acknowledge its national security implications.

@SengCenter Yeah, famously the New Deal had no impact on the US economy in the early 1930s. Also, this is an argument against trump’s tariff plans. Did you guys mean to do that?
