What are we even doing here? One piece is the evolution of manga storytelling. Oda was inspired by dragonball. One piece is in every way superior. It took the good things from dragonball and added so much more. World building, Storytelling, imagination, varied power system, mystery, emotion. And Character variety and design. One Piece is the undisputed King.

In my opinion, both sides are stupid. Because they’re looking at these designs in a vacuum, instead of the context of each anime and universe. You can’t just take designs from DBZ and compare them to other anime and say this looks better without the context of the shows.

Imma be honest… the convo was about the difference in how dynamic the ideologies of Dragon Ball and One Piece characters are. Objectively One Piece wins that argument but DB isn’t void of interesting motivations. It shifting to designs is lazy and dumb when both have great art.

As a Dragon Ball fan myself all I can really say is you like what you like. You can like designs from Dragon Ball and you can like designs from One Piece Its really not that big of a deal

I love both series, but this video is literally just "my toys are cool and your toys are dumb and gay!" Not only does One Piece have major design variety, it also has characters with very widespread political ideologies. Every dbz villain is fits into like 3 templates at most.

Design is subjective but If I had to give it to writing? That's gotta be One Piece. DB has some good writing too, don't get me wrong, but as far as depth and character motivation goes DB is kinda simple, which isn't a bad thing!
