I know we’re big on the whole merit thing, but the USOC really needs to step in in situations like this and grant wildcard admissions to the Olympic team to top athletes who just have a bad day.

I got a weird feeling that something was going to happen when they were bunched up. I yelled at the TV for her to get out of there!😞

This is really heartbreaking. However, I feel that her coach's "skip races throughout the season and just run only championships/Olympics" strategy caused this unfortunate fall, due to the lack of actual race preparedness/readiness.

none of those girls that won the 800 will win Gold. And 1 is in by default bc Athing was tripped. Athing Mu was the ONLY shot at Gold for this event. USA just gave a Gold medal away.

This is painful to watch. I want Keely Hodgkinson to win gold in Paris but Athing Mu is equally talented and really wanted to see them compete again. Very sorry for Athing hope she is not injured 🙏.
