Everyone calls Gandhi the Father of the Nation, but for me, the true Father of the Nation is the revolutionary leader Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Dr. Ambedkar worked tirelessly—2 years, 11 months, and 18 days—day and night, to draft the Constitution of India. His assistant, Nanak Chand Rattu, once asked him late at night, “Sir, will you eat something?” Ambedkar replied, “Tea is enough for me.” The assistant would bring the tea and leave. The next morning, when he returned, he would find the tea untouched. He would ask, “Sir, you didn’t even drink the tea?” Ambedkar would say, “I forgot. I became completely absorbed in ensuring the Constitution comes out correctly.” This happened repeatedly, day after day. Such was the dedication and sacrifice of the great revolutionary Dr. Ambedkar. This Khalistani bigot Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is openly telling people to go and break statues of Dr B R Ambedkar and calling B R Ambedkar a "राक्षस raakshas" (devil) under the garb of the word referendum. I've long maintained that Khalistanis are casteist bigots along with being gangsters and drug peddlers. Approximately 33% of Punjab's population is dalits and they own less than 4% land. Majority of the land is under the control of one caste group (Jatt Sikhs). Most Khalistanis belong to this caste group today. Even in the Jatt Sikhs they're a micro minority and give the rest a bad name who have nothing to do with these monsters. India is home to many religions, philosophies and schools of thought. Yet as a Republic, we chose one text to guide our nation above all others: the Constitution of India. On Constitution Day, we remind ourselves that its survival rests on our collective courage. The values in the Preamble, including justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, are increasingly sidelined by those in power. Institutions meant to protect our freedoms are weakened, dissent is discouraged, and constitutional morality is treated as an inconvenience. At a time when democratic norms are under strain and the balance of power tilts dangerously, we must remember that the Constitution does not defend itself. It lives only when we stand up for it, uphold its spirit, and hold every government accountable to its founding ideals.
