There were around 50 cheongsams made for Maggie Cheung in Wong Kar-wai's "In the Mood For Love" (2000). However, fewer than 25 made the final cut of the movie. According to WKW, each cheongsam reflect the mood of Maggie Cheung in the particular scene. He said, "We had 20 to 25 dresses for Maggie for the whole film. Because we cut the film short, it becomes like a fashion show; she changes all the time. The dress is not just a dress. It’s Maggie’s character’s mood. It’s as if she’s wearing this mood that day. She and the dress had chemistry. They brought out a kind of elegance in each other. In a way, the dress captured a part of her essence and she will always be associated with it." P.S: Most online articles state that Maggie Cheung wore 21 costumes. But, while making this video edit, I counted 23 costumes. I think I included all of it. If I have missed something, please let me know. I wanted to include the number for each dress in the video, but I didn't have enough time. But you will find each dress in the order of appearance in the movie.

When director Mark Sandrich and Fred Astaire saw the dress, they knew it would be impractical for the dance. Sandrich suggested that Rogers wear the white gown she had worn performing “Night and Day” in The Gay Divorcee (1934). Rogers walked off the set, finally returning when Sandrich agreed to let her wear the offending blue dress. As there was no time for rehearsals, Ginger Rogers wore the blue feathered dress for the first time during filming, and as Astaire and Sandrich had feared, feathers started coming off the dress. Astaire later claimed it was like “a chicken being attacked by a coyote”. In the final film, some stray feathers can be seen drifting off it. To patch up the rift between them, Astaire presented Rogers with a locket of a gold feather. This was the origin of Rogers' nickname “Feathers”. The shedding feathers episode was recreated to hilarious results in a scene from Easter Parade (1948) in which Fred Astaire danced with a clumsy, comical dancer played by Judy Garland. “Cheek to Cheek” was nominated for the Best Song Academy Award for 1936, which it lost to “Lullaby of Broadway”. One day during the festival, Iñárritu and many other directors were invited for a 7 PM screening of Wong Kar-wai's "In the Mood for Love" (2000). Iñárritu and his wife Maria booked a taxi at 6:15 PM. But the taxis were overbooked. So Iñárritu, wearing a tuxedo & his wife, wearing a long dress with high heels had no other choice but to run to reach the theater on time, while the temperature was 95°F. The traffic was heavy. While running, Iñárritu took off his jacket, tie & the first 3 buttons of his shirt. His wife took off her shoes. Their effort wasn't in vain as they reached the theater at 7:01 PM. They were drenched in sweat. But they both had experience of their lives when they watched the movie. Here is what Iñárritu said of "In the Mood for Love" (2000): "For a filmmaker, the experience of entering that legendary [Palais Des Festivals] with 2,000 seats is similar to that of a Catholic boy going into the Vatican.
