The activities in oil rigs are full of hazards. Drill operators must set up and operate drills to remove oil or core samples used for testing during oil exploration.

with all the money that industry makes... no one's built a machine to just do that? Seems like a good engineer would be able to come up with something...i mean they have the money and the manpower to do it.

This is a very primitive form of drilling! Come to my workplace, 200 miles off coast of South America, on a dual activity drill ship! It looks nothing like this. Although, most of us that’s been doing it for over 20+ years, started out with something similar.
