I haven't heard anyone on either side argue against a meritocracy.. But the DEI and ESG were the banners of the left and it wrecked everything it touched.

The question is - how do you judge merit?

Qualifications from where? Attitude is subjective.

I do appreciate the argument that secondary and post secondary school can be a barrier especially if money is involved.. But it's generally the left which has run education so it's got a great deal to do with them as to why for many people becoming qualified is too big a hurdle.

Serious question. Obvious my opinion is clear, but the reason I began with the other side is because I do believe there is a serious argument for it. Whose version? Interesting question. I would argue - money needs to be out of the justice system and people need to have a fair application of law to maximize their personal freedoms and to negate forms of discrimination

Fair point. The bureaucracy and litigators within the legal system are self-motivate. Let’s not call it a justice system. But that said, does your notion not lend more credence to a Conservative viewpoint that justice ought be designed to hold people and businesses accountable?

Justice, fairness and the rule of law. There HAS to be a solid foundation. As a disabled senior living on SS, I have witnessed the unfairness ! Seniors are always getting screwed over. I worked for over 50 years ! FOR WHAT ??

Justice for sure. However, another divide that you may have overlooked is in-it-for-themselves, (self-enriching politicians) versus honest, want to do what is right and just for society (selfless politicians). We seem to choose razzle dazzle lies over boring sanity.

Great question! I agree, but also think justice should be the foundation & the economy issues come second as both are important, therefore it should hopefully create a balance. If that makes sense. But politics has always seemed a bit confusing/complicated.🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes you are right, "but right now there are 2 tiers of justice ". 1 tier is for democrats and another tier is for Republicans. That can't work. So it will crumble and fail.

I think any sensible, logicly thinking individual will agree that we need justice and the rule of law to prevail ahead of anything else. Right now, that's failed in so many ways this past decade, which is why we find ourselves where we are now....

Trickle down economics is a big lie. Money never trickles down. I would prefer the latter, but unfortunately we've learned that money buys laws. Eliminate lobbyists as a start, and we need to hold "the rich" to the same laws we all follow. Starting with taxes. Make them pay them

We can ensure justice and rule of law with hard work, but even with hard work we cannot ensure monetary trickle down outcomes. That’s a huge concern.
