@ONtransport I want the plow in front of me .... makes the road pretty nice to travel on. sure it may be slower but I do not rush anywhere.

@ONtransport Maybe if you posted this in Hindu, Punjab, Arabic, and every other language except English or French, drivers might understand. This is the problem, Canada gives licenses to anyone, doesn't matter if you can't understand our language.

@ONtransport Hi...actually they not able to increase the speed as the conveyor belt, salt spinners, plow arms are all calibrated to a specific speed. The inside of a plow truck looks like a airplane cockpit. They have buttons, screens and other manual controls they are responsible for.

PVNR Flyover in Hyderabad brings out some of the worst drivers. Its a 40-60 kmph speed limit. Solid white all over to discourage lane changes. The idea is to get on it and drive in your lane for the entire stretch at or below 60 kmph. NO Overtaking, No Speeding. But some drivers treat it as a racing track- they weave, and cut, and overtake in small gaps putting others at risk. We have to change our racing mindset to achieve safe roads. PS: Unlike highways, flyovers & bridges don't have 'Fast lane' or 'Overtaking lane', everyone must drive below speed limit and follow each other patiently. (I get this response very often so posted this 🫤) #RoadSafety

Why is New Orleans spending $160,000 for an Indiana company to come snow plow some areas for 24 hours? Couldn’t the city buy a plow or 3, that hooks on the front of an existing city truck? $160k for 24 hours seems excessive. But key road, interstate, must be cleared

Our snow plow crews have been working hard from Lake Tahoe to as low as Foresthill to keep our roads clear. Today, we were out at the Alta/Dutch Flat area capturing one of our Placer County snow plows in action! ❄️🚜 When the snow is cold, heavy and wet like it’s been this week, plowing can be especially challenging, and it can take multiple passes to fully clear the road. No matter the conditions, our crews are working around the clock to Keep Placer Moving. If you see them out there, give them plenty of space and a wave! 👋

I live in Maine, the state runs snow plows when it starts snowing. They run all through the storm so this doesn’t happen. The incompetence here is astounding, 30” of snow or not. We’ve had ‘feet’ of snow here. This video is from Providence Rhode Island 24 hrs after the storm.

I want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to our Snow Team. This drone video captures our crews performing an echelon on Preston Highway- a coordinated snow-removal formation where multiple plows work side-by-side to clear several lanes at once and safely push snow off the roadway. Our Snow Team has been working around the clock, logging more than 125 hours by Tuesday afternoon alone. They’ve pushed through harsh conditions and long, demanding shifts to keep our dedicated snow routes clear and safe. This work is tough, critical, and often happens while the rest of the city is able to stay safely at home. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, teamwork, and grit.

In this video by Ron Walker, the Cairn Gorm hollow known as Ciste Mhearad (Margaret’s coffin) is completely filled with snow. This location has significant historical interest. In a visit of 1801, intrepid female explorer Sarah Murray wrote of it being known locally as ‘the snow house’: ‘those who mount that eminence (Cairngorm) should walk to the edge of the precipices hanging over the hollow towards Loch Auon (Avon) and to the snow house. The snow house is not far from the Cairn or heap of stones, on the highest part of Cairngorm, and is a hollow, in extent an acre or two. This hollow is filled with snow, and although it faces the south, it is never melted either by the sun or rain’ Snow has survived here on only two occasions since 2000, which is an indicator of colder and snowier times historically compared to today.

We haven't visited with some of our snow removal friends in a while! This fella is using a small John Deere Tractor with a plow attachment! It's a pretty big job for the size of the machine. Long driveways, heavy snow. He's got the tires chained and near the end of the video he notices a problem with one of the tire rims freely rotating within the tire. Any idea why? Any idea how to fix it? What's your best guess?

NEW: Resident in Pennsylvania is reporting “Snow that looks, feels and sounds like styrofoam” He shows you multiple areas of the snow and it’s all the same, this stuff needs to be sent off to be tested One explanation for this is that it could be what called ‘Graupel Snow’ which is both denser and more granular than ordinary snow and looks similar to this but that doesn’t explain the feel of styrofoam being reported or the sound of styrofoam being reported by the resident Graupel Snow is essentially snow hail

FSD 14.2 STUNS IN WINTER DRIVING! Just got done driving ~100 miles on a snowy interstate and a little suburban driving. A few notes: FSD absolutely, definitively detects snow as a separate substance from rain. As the snow began to fall, there came a point where FSD first detected the snow and immediately slowed. From then on, it drove in a completely different profile. Generally, V14.2 kept 40-55mph on a 70mph interstate. When driving in Sloth/Chill and you try to increase the speed profile to Standard/Hurry, the truck displays a red error saying inclement weather is preventing FSD from speeding up. Fantastic! V14.2 takes corners slow as molasses to keep traction. It does NOT shoot gaps and pull out in front of other vehicles. V14.2 waits for BIG gaps to make its merge into traffic. It is properly cautious! One instance of Red Hands occurred when it was merging into a center left turn lane. This center lane was the only lane not plowed, so either 1. it got confused with lane markings or 2. Slid sideways very slightly and got upset. On straightaways on the interstate in areas with little snow coverage, V14.2 would speed up close to the speed limit. While the roads were wet today from road treatment, I was concerned for slick & frozen areas and manually backed off on the speed. While not technically unsafe, I did this out of an abundance of caution. IMO this is a grey area between "driving safely" and "not driving how I do" lol Not much ice today. Just snow and slush. Tonight, 6-12 inches of fresh snow is forecasted to fall here. I'll be out at dawn tomorrow to test in worse conditions with less traffic. Stay tuned.

The home owner got sick of the snow plow drivers taking the entire streets worth of snow and plowing it into his curb, lawn and into his mailbox. The first year they knocked the mailbox crooked, so the next year he built a wooden box to go around the perimeter of the mailbox. That got busted too. So year three - he's now put trash cans up on his lawn to prevent having his property become the dumping ground. You decide - Is this genius, and funny or passive-aggressive and still funny? 😂

We've got 24,000,000 pounds of waste to pick up every day, and, WE ARE DOING IT. Today is Thursday and we are collecting Thursday trash and compost today (though maybe not at the same time that you usually receive collection). Recycling collection may be a little behind. Snow operations continue, too. We continue to plow, haul, and clear snow from all over – and have now melted 215,000,000 pounds of it!
