You're not repairing a gear with those cheap, likely ungraded fasteners and non-glowing metal you can just pour over them. You can make a gear shape, but it's not a repaired gear.

Gear teeth follow evolvent curve, therefore new problem will inevitably arise - either it will wear off in the repaired spot almost immediately or it will be stuck.

the usual method is to replace the gear and melt down the old one for reclaim.
