Brooklyn: Myrtle Avenue & Walworth Street. A construction worker died yesterday due to reckless driving. According to the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad, and as captured on CCTV footage, a 36-year-old man driving a white 2023 Ford Transit van eastbound on Myrtle Avenue attempted to pass a 2004 Freightliner box truck within a construction zone. The Ford van entered the oncoming traffic lane, striking the driver's side of the Freightliner and a 37-year-old male pedestrian, a construction worker serving as a flagger. Following the initial impact, the Ford van collided with a westbound 2018 Honda Odyssey van, pushing it eastbound into the front of a stationary 2018 Kenworth truck facing westbound. EMS transported the construction worker to NYC Health and Hospitals/Woodhull in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead. All vehicles involved remained on the scene, and the driver of the Ford van, who lives in the confines of the NYPD 77th Precinct, was arrested by officers from the NYPD 79th Precinct and charged: • Criminally Negligent Homicide • Reckless Endangerment • Reckless Driving • Failure to Exercise Due Care Don't have yet a dash camera?
