There's no way webbed joists are a $5,000 premium over a solid web joist.

Flex duct octopus in the attic, flex duct in cutouts... Don't expect your furnace to last more than 10 years at best.

The only problem with engineered trusses is they tend to squeak. All those wood members are areas that can squeak. That’s why they are not used as much now as they were in the 90’s.

Love the prefab joist vs 2x12. But can’t you not core out that large of a hole for that ducting? Isnt it like the middle 1/3… that looks very structurally compromised.

“look at all that room in there” yeah for fucking fire to move freely. Not to mention the press board being used instead of the “dimensional lumber” my god these houses won’t last at all.

Why are the TJI ducting holes so large? That’s compromised.

This is standard practice on typical 3 story hotels between floors. 24” open web floor trusses for the reason you mentioned: access and we can span the depth of a hotel room. Did that for 10 years all over the Midwest.

Funny we just installed an LVL beam and jack post to support sagging open web joists.

We did web trusses and we used blown in cellulose for insulation. By the way, it was done by fireman and his sons. Proper fire blocking as well. We would do it again. This time would be more careful where we put the gluelams though. 😉

Seem cool but it was more than 5k on my build so I stuck with I-joists

Check out open web "Trim Joists". Cone in 2' increments. Trim a foot on both ends. Stronger than I-Joists or manf open webs. Friendly to use.

I wouldn't use them again. B I lt in crown is a problem when you have a structural beam to match with. And they can't be modified, once the length is determined you have to make it work, no modifications allowed. Only my one experience with an 18000 sq ft build.

Wood chips, glue, and staples for a structural beam? No. This will not last and cannot be repaired/sistered in the event of failure/weakening. These buildings will be uninsurable after 30 years.

Wooden truss suck. Collapses faster in a fire. Bouncy from the start. After 20 years it’s garbage

Unbelievable how bad the hvac system was.

Steel all day!

If your a builder and supporting floor trusses you are a problem never in the human era of home building would ANY builder fully support floor trusses if you knew anything about floor deflection

I prewire homes for a low voltage A/V company and I fucking love webbed trusses. Hate the jobs that dont have them

The DJI are composed of OSB, not plywood. And they definitely look compromised. You can’t cut such a big hole in those it’s against the code.

Great video, but slow down Haus feel like I'm on a rise at Six Flags. Movement does not equal focus.

fire rating? ahh there won't be no fire

This must be in the south only southerners or people from the east coast would be this dumb.

🤮 just look at the romex

...Im just going to keep buying homes built before 1993... we used American labor and they cared more you can see it in the work when opening walls

Webtrusses also have much less problems with crowning under larger emweight bearings structures like countertops and cabinets and alike. I wish my home when we designed it went for webbed trusses. 🥶🥶🥶

So many issues with that pretty sure those tji are cut way too much it’s all in a plan, you’re pitching this like someone is just going to come in and run shit without a plan, there are plans for a fucking reason. There you go you got my endgames for your being a stupid fucking cunt!

Those huge duct cutouts in the I-joists are scary

That extra $5k pays for itself the first time you need to run new lines or fix something. Way cleaner installs, better airflow, no cutting big holes in structural members👍👏

Look at where his trusses sit on the stairwell wall. His trusses don’t bear on the studs below. Framing 101 clowns.

I had my Advantech flooring glued and screwed down to the I joists.

I want solid lumber. If your house happens to catch fire! Fire alarms will not help and most firefighters won't enter if not solid! Adhesive are not the best for fire as well. Be safe good stuff tho!

I'm also going crawl space foundation.

Save $$ and make them trusses at home - get the machine that presses the little metal shit into them.. tada.. though need to cut boards to proper lengths and such..

The holes are pre-cut from the manufacturer and TGI'S span further than open web joist and they don't squeak.

Definitely. But they must be high quality. Many open webs are built using finger joint material these days. Which is garbage.
