he's right for liquid gas but fumes can ignite without a spark if the temp is above the LEL or lower explosive limit, but that's unlikely without a spark at a open air gas pump and a bike motor. the usual culprit is static electricity sparks.

I have smoked cigs that were soaked in liquid oxygen. I have put out cigs in jars of gas. Headers WILL NOT get hot enough to ignite gas. Your engine will fail far before that is an issue. An open flame is over 1500 degrees. Far beyond cigs/what headers are engineered for.

Motorcycle rider is correct. Gasoline has an auto ignition temperature starting around 475 degrees. Motorcycle exhaust headers can easily achieve those temps.

this isn't about spark, it's about flashpoint, gasoline has a low flashpoint so yes it can ignite with heat alone!!

Heat does actually ignite, I don't know why people don't know this... a motorcycle exhaust header absolutely gets hot enough to ignite spilled gasoline... That's a fact. And it does so rapidly, the temp far exceeds what is needed for ignition..

Y’all can’t be that slow. Gas CAN combust at around 500 to 600 degrees. Headers depending on the bike for example headers on an r1 can reach anywhere between 1500 and 1600 degrees. IT IS Possible. But don’t believe it that’s cool. Stay slow homies.

Gasoline ignites at about 500°, headers easily are sitting at 700° cruising up to 1200 if you’re riding heavy….. a cigar or a cigarette won’t light gas on fire but hot headers definitely will

My father was a professional firefighter for 33 years and when I was little he would put gas in a pan and clean and scrub lawnmower engine parts while smoking cigarettes and when he was finished, he dipped the cigarette in the gas to put it out. Never caught on fire.
