Due to his ASD, Jonah has learning and speech difficulties. But we still try hard to teach him Bahasa Melayu (and Chinese). Today we had our first (almost) proper Malay conversation. 🥹

As a teacher in SMK (CF) aka SMJK previously, I am very proud of you. More than 20 of my chinese students (5 classes combined) are unable to understand Malay nor English. As an Emglish teacher, I'm very tired and seeing you raising tour kid, I am very touched and proud

In your opinion - is multi language teaching helpful for a child with ASD? Or is focusing on one better

For me, it's less about ASD and more about living in Malaysia. When I'm no longer around, he'll need to navigate daily life as independently as possible. Bahasa Melayu (and some Chinese) are part of that. Better to start early than never.
