Sergey Brin on AI and Jeff Dean back in December when Gemini peaked: “I would say in some ways we for sure messed up in that we underinvested and sort of didn't take it as seriously as we should have, say, eight years ago when we published the Transformer paper. We actually didn't take it all that seriously and didn't necessarily invest in scaling the compute. And also we were too scared to bring it to people because chatbots say dumb things. And, you know, OpenAI ran with it, which is good for them. It was a super smart insight, and it was also our people like Ilya who went there to do that. But I do think we still have benefited from that long history. So we had a lot of the research and development of neural networks kind of going back to Google Brain. That was also kind of lucky. It wasn't luck that we hired Jeff Dean. I mean, we were lucky to get him. But we were in this sort of mindset that deep technical things matter. And so we hired him. We hired a lot of people from DEC, honestly, because they had the top research labs at the time. But he [Jeff Dean] was passionate about neural networks. And it stemmed, I think, from actually his college experiment. I don't know. He was like, whatever, curing third world disease and figuring out neural networks when he was like 16. He's done crazy things. But he was passionate about it. He built up a whole effort. And actually in my division at the time in Google X. We had him but I didn't I was like okay Jeff you do whatever you want. He's like oh we can tell cats from dogs. I'm like oh okay cool. But you know, you also trust your technical people and soon enough they were developing all these algorithms these neural nets that were doing some of our search. And then, you know, Noam came up with a transformer and we were able to do more and more. But yeah, I mean, so we had the underpinnings, we had the R&D. 🧱 #Live3D #Live2D #HandTracking 🧱 I spent some time refining the way I use Warp Deformers to create lateral physics-based swinging motion in Live2D. With a new production concept, I tried to achieve the highest possible level of mathematical precision. At the core are two fundamental swinging structures, which I can mix in different proportions to create different qualities of motion. The first is parallel swinging. Both sides of the Warp Deformer remain perfectly parallel throughout the motion, making it look somewhat like a sheet of paper or a tassel. The second is bending swinging. The angle between the two sides of the Warp Deformer changes as it moves, making it look more like a flexible tube or a tail. （0:12）Interestingly, when I layer the first and second structures together, the bottom forms an X-shaped pattern as it swings. It looks a little like a spine or some kind of mechanical structure. （0:23）The third structure is an equal blend of the first and second. Its characteristics are much more neutral, combining the qualities of both. （0:35）The fourth and fifth structures are created by smoothly blending the first structure into the center of the second, and the second into the center of the first, respectively. This makes them appear softer and more flexible, somewhat like a piece of fabric. （0:28）Interestingly, when I blend the fourth and fifth structures equally, the result is exactly identical to the third structure. This also demonstrates that, despite their apparent complexity, the two are actually perfect mirror images of each other. Every physics-based motion shown here uses a two-segment pendulum structure, with a swinging range of ±90°. In theory, when curled to its limit, it can bend upward into a perfect semicircle. She is a so-called lawyer and she lies and has the craziest opinions about this entire case, and other cases. The most hypocritical Christmas message to date The Office of Vice President Sara Duterte released her Christmas video message last night and I say that it is the most hypocritical one I’ve seen to date. If you will remember, just few weeks ago in Ifugao, she said this very line: “Christmas is a season for forgiveness, love and generosity. I keep on saying that it’s dependent on the person. But since I am the Vice President, I need to tell you that that’s the message and spirit of Christmas. But for me, I will not be forgiving anyone” … Now, tell me if I’m wrong. Lol! The funny thing is, the supporters try to justify the ill-mannered Vice President by saying she’s just being true to herself. I wonder what happened, maybe their internal survey shows that her scandalous statements and actions affected popularity. So, she had to clean herself up, put on some make up and deliver a message we all know she doesn’t mean with a smile and out of character soft voice. But the truth remains the same! No amount of “softened Sara Duterte” can make people forget what happened. How 1. She just threatened the lives of the President, First Lady and Speaker of the House 2. She disrespected the military by asking them for certification and used it to justify an expense without their knowledge 3. BADDIES MIDWEST REUNION PART 2 I wanted Bobby LYTES to stop talking so bad 💆🏾‍♂️ the batteries in his microphone needed to die . Santana was thirsty to try and get Tesehki & Diamond to fight again & idk why . Diamond so real , she said “I’m not fighting her and nobody on this show needs to” 😭😭😭 The Diamond vs Rollie & Natalie segment was way too LONG 💆🏾‍♂️ Natalie did all that flinching & no pinching & she got caught in a lie , AGAIN . Rollie won the fights but they were really nothing spectacular , she was pulling Diamond like it was tug of war , & Diamond apologizing & saying “I love you” at the end was dumb , just a waste of time . Lex , Dolly , & Summer came to turn it up . They came out jumping immediately though , so I can’t feel bad about them m getting jumped or snuck 🤷🏾‍♂️ but everybody was in the paint (new & old girls) . Tesehki got that with Dolly. Senator Joel Villanueva, the master of double talk I once voted for Villanueva. I was a first time voter and he’s the young legislator running for Senate for the first time — to my disappointment, he turned out worse than the people we tried to replace with the supposed new blood. Following the Senate over the years, you will notice how he mastered the art of double talk. He will talk all these nonsense, only to vote Last Tuesday, this was evident. He said he agrees with the minority leader but concluded his statement with the exact opposite point. I invite you to watch the Senate plenary last Tuesday, you will see what I win. Ugh! Annoying! I cannot blame Senator Risa Hontiveros for saying that Dela Rosa-Cayetano motion was planned and with the Joel Villanueva viral videos… is it safe to say that he’s not just a part of it but might also be one of the masterminds? Why is he protecting Sara Duterte? Joel Villanueva is not making sense at all with all his excuses! The videos are clear! They didn’t ask him for procedural concerns, he was directing Imee Marcos.
