It is a celebration of devotion, culture, and the eternal triumph of good over evil. The pandal is sanctified space, where the presence of Maa Durga reigns supreme in the hearts of millions of devotees. To insist on placing a politician’s portrait alongside the Goddess is a grotesque distortion of faith and an attempt to deify the Prachar Mantri. This is a direct repudiation of our spiritual ethos. That BJP sought to trespass into this space of devotion reveals its contempt for Bengal’s cultural heritage. The people have spoken. The organisers have rejected this diktat. Faith will not be hijacked. Maa Durga cannot be overshadowed.

What is this Mr. CP Kolkata; Shri Manoj Kumar Verma (IPS)? How did the goons garner the ability to storm into a Durga Puja Pandal under the Jurisdiction of the Kolkata Police and threaten to vandalise the idol of Maa Durga if the rituals aren't stopped? The incident happened at the Puja Pandal of New Bengal Sporting Club at Garden Reach; Kolkata. The Organizers have already made a complaint to the Garden Reach Police Station. The Office Bearers and Members of the New Bengal Sporting Club have also provided video footage of the incident. How can you allow this to happen? I believe you will take the strictest action possible against the culprits and make them realize that it is Kolkata not Dhaka.

Recently there was a commotion regarding the organising of Saraswati Puja in the Nagarukhra area of Haringhata, Nadia district. TMC booth president, Alimuddin Mondal had threatened of dire consequences if Saraswati Puja is organised in the area. Afterwards the Sanatani Community of the Nagarukhra Bazar area organized Saraswati Puja. This morning, I had the opportunity to visit their Saraswati Puja Pandal and offer Pushpanjali to Maa Saraswati and sought her blessings for the betterment of the youth of Bengal and enhancement of the quality of education in the State.

Disturbing scenes have emerged from West Bengal, in KMC Ward 133, Metiaburuz, where Bengali Hindus were celebrating Durga Puja. This year, many of the Tithis occurred in the morning, which led to the sound of Dhaks and conch shells being heard earlier in the day. This angered a section of Mamata Banerjee's vote bank. A crowd of around 50-60 people entered the pandal and threatened to destroy the idol of Maa Durga if the celebrations weren't stopped immediately. They said that Mantras and Hindu rituals cannot take place when Azaan in going on, lest they will burn down the pandal. None of the intruders know how to speak in Bengali. This incident highlights a troubling reality in Bengal, akin to what is happening in Bangladesh, where some Urdu-speaking groups are undermining Bengali culture and traditions.

Let me assure you that, the rituals are going on unobstructed. Hindus are united and the religious fervour of the Sanatanis is evident. I would like to urge CP Kolkata to identify all the miscreants, who are clearly visible in the video footage and book them under the appropriate Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS). Only exemplary punishment would deter the reoccurrence of such incidents in the future. Kolkata Police

If there’s anything definitively “what you make of it,” dinner is that on the regular. Enter: cutlet maxxing. Start with a chicken breast. Pound it thin—not just to tenderize, but to create maximum surface area for flavor. Lay a thin slice of prosciutto right on top before the pass of the mallet (or tortilla press) so the salt and fat get hammered into the meat. The prosciutto essentially becomes part of the cutlet. Now the holy trinity: -Seasoned flour (salt, pepper, garlic powder, maybe a whisper of smoked paprika). -Egg wash spiked with grated Parm, black pepper, and a splash of milk. -Panko breadcrumbs mixed with more grated cheese and Italian herbs. Press the breading in hard so it sticks like armor. Fry in a generous layer of olive oil + butter until deep golden and crispy. Drain on a rack. Top with marinara, fresh mozzarella, and more Parm, then broil until bubbly and blistered. Serve with spaghetti or just a massive salad so you can pretend you’re balanced. This isn’t basic chicken parm. This is cutlet maxxing—crispy, juicy, salty, cheesy, stupidly good. One bite and your socks are gone.
