During 1917, MacKay accidentally slammed into extras while running. Since every take was insanely expensive, they just kept the cameras rolling.

But him running into people SOLD the scene. I thought it was 100% intentional

I love the fact that first bro got shoulder checked and said "I'm dead now."

I mean, running against a moving crowd in that way, it is realistic to crash into people.

It’s still so funny Jackie Chan was learning English during the filming of Rush Hour.

Hugh Jackman realizing the journalist interviewing him was once his student is the most wholesome plot twist.

i made it halfway through the movie before i realized there were no cuts and then started to truely appreciate the greatness of this film

this movie was a whole other level of filmmaking.

That said, it was one of those 'it makes it better' shots - much like the famous example of the Rohan flag being ripped off in-shot during the filming of 'The Two Towers', both films being directed by Sir Peter Jackson.

This movie fucking sucked

It’s interesting how limitations like those could actually add a layer of realism or even accidental brilliance to a scene. Those moments make classic movies even more special to me.

Movie 1917, behind the scenes

Behind the scenes of filming of Harry Potter, the magic of green screen

That’s why 1917 feels so raw — half the chaos wasn’t acting, it was pure accident caught on film

The importance of Green Screen for movies

More realistic that way, though.

I watched this film with my parents and didn’t expect to be so utterly moved. The experience was a little ruined because they kept making jokes but I still walked away in tears over such a lovingly crafted, heart-aching film.

Oners are planned w/in an inch of their lives. More likely it was discussed before they started rolling - either the extras were told "run into him if he's in your way" and/or everyone was aware they should play it as it happened, they weren't going to stop filming for it.

Women’s gym, 1941😆👱🏻♀️👱🏻♀️👱🏻♀️

Guess in 1917, “Oops, I hit someone” just meant keep rolling can’t waste all that film!

Wow this scene is legendary!!!!!!

These are the things that makes a scene feel real.

Tell me again. What did these men die for?

The efforts they put to shoot a scene Breaking Bad

It’s good they went on with the shooting cause it seemed very realistic for him to crash into people running against that much crowd If it were otherwise it would’ve sucked

WW1 movies have a great opportunity to portray the optimist and arrogant character that led to the war in the first place. But they never do.

story behind the scenes of 1917 movie

Great acting instincts on that guy! I loved this movie.

focus on the run 🚀

The first guy he ran into did not get back up. Did he get knocked out? Lol damn

Were they paid to keep running ?

I'm pretty sure the whole selling point of this movie was the fact it was supposed to seem like it was all in 1 take, except for when in got dark once for a transition. But I dont think they "just kept the camera rolling" like I'm 99% sure that was all intentional.
