You can be at home, minding your own business and still, danger can find its way to your doorstep. That’s not the way life is meant to be. At some point, we must stop and take a hard look at where we are. This isn't the future we were promised. We need to acknowledge what’s gone wrong, and we need to act, urgently, to make it right. We must bring back safety. Safety at home. Safety on the streets. Safety in our schools. Progress means nothing if we can't protect the most basic human right: to feel safe. I want to live in peace and harmony, not fear and harm. And I know I’m not alone.

We have specific intelligence data indicating that Russia not only wants to disrupt the Peace Summit, but also has a specific plan for how to do so, including how to reduce the number of participating countries and how to act in order to thwart peace efforts for even longer. To counter this, we must work together, in unity, to achieve a just peace. We are all equally interested in forcing Russia to make peace and adhere to international law. The world majority can ensure this. The Global Peace Summit in Switzerland provides us with a real opportunity to achieve just peace and restore full force to international law. We are working together to focus the world's power on bringing a just peace to Ukraine.

I emphasized that Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace, not just an illusion of peace, and I appreciate that this position was reciprocated. We agreed that all forces must work together to find common ground on the path to restoring true peace in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter. We also discussed our bilatedal agenda. I thanked Minister Wang Yi for his hospitality and extended an invitation to visit Ukraine.
