During my engineering days, I would get 20 rupees ($0.24) everyday. For taking the bus. And on some days mom used to give me an extra 20 rupees that she saved from her daily expenses so that I could have my favourite vada pav❤️

Mom loves jewellery. She always has. But exactly around the time of semester change, I used to notice that one of her very few jewellery pieces used to go missing. When asked where they were she used to lie or makeup some explanation.

“It’s broken and it’s at the jeweller's” “It’s with your grandma, it’s safe there” But she never let me know it was used to pay my engineering fees.

Even with extreme financial constraints mom and dad made sure me and my brother got the best education. But staying at 5 ⭐️ hotel would have been the last thought on her mind.

I wasn’t a very grateful kid back then . But I knew I wanted to change things. For the woman who constantly thought of me and my happiness even though we had very little.

Luckily with some hard work, good opportunities, good people and good learnings things changed for the better and I got the chance to make my family comfortable🙏

Due to work, I got to travel and experience life more than my family did. And I wanted to give them the same experience. Especially my mom. But in no alternate universe would she have been ok with me spending a couple of thousands on a 5 ⭐️ hotel and her birthday.

This weekend, she accompanied me to @jsconf_india as it was her birthday. She met my work friends, made some new friends and saw me on the stage for the first time❤️ It was her first time staying in a fancy hotel. And she loved it!

It was a wholesome experience for this mother-daughter duo and it wouldn’t have been possible without all the amazing friends and community I have My dad is also involved in my work. And him appreciating me is a rare glimpse. I am framing this.
