Yesterday night we asked Mr. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu why the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge is yet to be opened to the public. He informed us about his plan and mentioned that as one of his flagship projects the bridge incorporates an aesthetic architectural element similar to the Lekki Ikoyi Link Bridge, which was designed and executed by the Lagos State Governor Candidate and Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat #KOH during his tenure as Commissioner of Works. He promised that the installation would be completed and the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge would be open for public use within the coming weeks.

Had plans to see my mum and Sir Dickson yesterday but the cloud changed. I quickly saddled up, canceled my meeting and started riding like a dude pushing coke to the mainland only to ride into a serious rain on 3rd Mainland Bridge. The thought of parking under the bridge came to mind but i said never. I will ride this bike till i get home. Thank God for the modes on BMW S1000R. I changed the mode from Road to RAIN mode. That was extra safety for me. 😁

Omo, Ikorodu people are seriously suffering o. A bridge from Ikorodu to the Island would reduce the journey to about 30 minutes max. The proposed bridge costs about $2.5 billion, though, and the President has been pushing for this bridge, as well as the VGC Bridge. I don't know why it still hasn't been done. The government can try building a cheaper version of the bridge. It doesn't have to include all these expensive features. The important thing is to help Ikorodu residents avoid the long daily commute. However, no matter the version they choose to build, they should retain the fishwave design sha 😅. We need more iconic bridges in Lagos because they eventually become landmarks, just like the Ikoyi Cable-Stayed Bridge. Honestly, Dr. Hamzat is goated. He came up with this design alongside Engr. Mide Adeyoye, just as he did with the Ikoyi Bridge. That's why I keep saying he must not sleep on his own portfolio. The world needs to know how brilliant and experienced he is in road and infrastructure development. A deputy governor aspiring to become governor cannot remain in a ceremonial position. You need to show yourself more. But then again, this bridge would make developers rush to Ikorodu. They have plenty of land there, and it would become another major real estate corridor. Rent prices would definitely rise over time. They should sha build a cheaper version if cost is the issue,but please keep the same design. It will slap.
