He lied and said he had been home sick. - His parents recognized the rifle used as the same rifle they had given him. When they called him again, he "implied that he planned to take his own life." - When they confronted him in person, "Robinson implied that he was the shooter and stated that he couldn’t go to jail and just wanted to end it." - When asked why he did it, Robinson said Charlie Kirk "spreads too much hate." - They discussed turning himself in and convinced him to speak with a family friend who is a retired deputy sheriff. - Robinson admitted to that retired deputy that he had disposed of the clothes he wore during the shooting. - Robinson went with his parents and that retired deputy to turn himself in. Deputy Holmes and Deputy Hackler were on patrol around 11:00 p.m. on February 5 when they stopped a motorist for driving without license plates. Daniel Elias told deputies he didn't know how to install his plates due to a learning disability. He had his license plates with him, as well as proper insurance and registration. Rather than give him a ticket, the deputies helped him put his license plates on. He was so appreciative and encouraged us to share the video.
