What began as a small initiative launched by students from our city of Chernivtsi has grown into a global movement that unites millions of Ukrainians every year, both in Ukraine and around the world. Vyshyvanka has long been more than clothing; rather, it is a symbol, a statement. It is with us everywhere: in everyday life and on special occasions, in moments of joy and on days of great tragedy, on the front line and at home, during revolutions, when we say farewell to our finest people, and even under occupation, as a symbol of quiet resistance. It is our way of speaking about who we are without unnecessary words, of learning the history of our families and our nation. In every motif, there is the strength and beauty of a tradition our ancestors preserved through centuries of trials. Our task is to protect it and carry it forward. Happy Vyshyvanka Day!
