Hyperscalers are still figuring out the right mix of DRAM, HBM, TLC NAND, QLC NAND and other storage architectures which can keep supply tighter for longer as memory companies are going to be hesitant to add too much capacity before demand becomes clearer. I'm going to be listening closely for Micron’s QLC commentary because QLC NAND for read-heavy inference workloads is the big driver and if Micron calls that out then it would show that the storage side of the AI memory story is still earlier than DRAM.

I would normally be very hesitant to claim something that has historically been cyclical is no longer cyclical, but I think it may be correct this time. As the required memory capacity and bandwidth grow, HBM turns something like a process business rather than a product business. Vertically connecting DRAM stacks into a HBM has gone through two generationa of bonding tech, thermal compression bonding and mass reflow molded underfill, and now the next-gen hybrid bonding is coming.
