We seriously do need to go back with non fighting games having vs modes

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate had a similar mode, but it employed a 3v3-tag mechanic... polished & streamlined, no, but ridiculously fun.

Sengoku Basara 3 Utage (the re-release that was never localized) has a versus mode like this if you ever want Capcom and Itsuno-made Devil May Cry combos in your versus Musou.

low key looking like what if Spikeout had samurai swordfighters and DMC combos instead of fodder destroyer (though it DOES look good for what I expected) then again there's Spikers Battle and Slashout but those are basically Spikeout but versus and fantasy skin respectively lol
