Earlier today, an accident on the Redhill Link Road next to Kitisuru exit (ABC Place outbound) claimed the lives of 2 young boys aged 18/20. Several accidents at the same place have ended tragically. Unfortunately, bumps (not rumble strips) the entire stretch are the solution.

You don't need bumps on these corners, they just throw the car up in the air

Drivers will not adhere to road signage, so what's the solution?

Kick the tuktuks out of there and keep it 100/110kph

There are rumble strips and that too just after a bend, which has already caused several accidents. The last thing we need is more rumble strips or bumps. We just need to enforce the law, get rid of those tuk tuks which in most cases these guys could be avoiding and install speed cameras.

Bumps along such a stretch of road will kill more people than they will help. Unless we have Bumps every 50m and still people will die. Let's campaign for better road safety methods like observing speed limits

I have been driving on that stretch for over a year. The road camber on the slope exiting waiyaki way is uneven on the far left lane. That stretch has sharp corners that lack super elevation so if your car isn’t built for speed just do 40-60km/hr. The problem here is the drivers

BUMPS are NOT the solution; I beg to differ! We need: 🎯 maintained street lights 🎯 warning signage 🎯 reflectors before and at curves 🎯 median guardrail to prevent crossings of pedestrians, tuktuks, boda bodas 🎯creation of Matatu & tuktuk stops [they stop anyhowly anywhere!] 🎯 public awareness and training on road use, for both pedestrians, riders and drivers! Bumps could me more hazardous than useful: ➡️ if one is driving at high speed with no lighting and signage; ➡️ since our bumps are never marked or repainted; once they're plopped onto the road, they're forgotten. In Kenya, we have normalised that driving licenses can be bought and traffic police can be bribed. @KURAroads, @047County, @NPSC_KE and @NPSOfficial_KE have blood on their hands for dereliction of duty.

You can’t spoil all nice roads with bumps because people refuse to obey traffic rules.

If you drive along this stretch from Friday evening through the weekend, you’ll notice just how recklessly the younger drivers behave.

How does one have an accident at that road. Good riddance that just one less bad driver on the road

Do you have figures to support this claim? I would argue those rumble strips that destabilize cars are a major contributor and accidents would decrease if they were removed.

Basi si tutoe lami tuweke marram road ndio iwe safe? Why do we always advocate for changing an entire structure for angew reckless poeple?

The cause is not the road but the driver. Always the driver.

A little distraction, a split second mistake, that road requires calmness and maintain governable speeds

Don’t reproduce.

Everyone is blaming poor roads. Nobody talks of reckless driving and unroadworthy vehicles. Kenyans have refused to learn, it is costing lives!

@wuodosur Bumps are only used on roads where monkies drive cars. Why accelerate a car to uncontrollable speeds in feeder roads? At 80km/h, a car if fairly controllable on a highway. At 60km/h in 'estate' roads, you're looking for death and you'll find it. Simple!

You're among the idiots who think speed bumps solve everything... damn!!!

Unmarked bumps cause more harm than good

Why are kenyans so obsessed with over regulation Any incidents that happens Kenyans will quickly jump on regulations As if we can regulate bad behavior By putting up bumps you are endangering the lives of many because of a few reckless teenagers

That was serious

Only toxicology could tell if they were under the influence, but let’s get serious there aren’t enough bumps in the world to tame drivers who think speed is their best friend, and believe it will never happen to them, until it’s too late..

Rumble strips is not the solution, shida ni driver

Kenyans and bumps 🚮, can't you just drive the car carefully? Or if you have to go fast understand the car and road condition? Bumps is colonialist thinking and sometimes even cause accidents and unnecesary cost to car owners on repairs.

Bumps are unnecessary on any road. They can't prevent drink driving and indiscipline on the roads.

A fatal accident in the City can only be caused by reckless driving.

We ni mjinga kama tu polisi na @ntsa_kenya

A hundred bumps will not fix a badly constructed road. The constructor messed up the camber.

I don't think that road is bad. The speed limit is 50 because of the curves. There's no way a car can be messed up like that with a speed of 50. People are just adrenaline junkies

I've seen a car fly over into someone's compound.. speeding is the issue.

Wakieka bumps ferrari na Lamborghini zitapita wapi?

I’ve used that road for over ten years, and trust me, the problem isn’t bumps. It’s the rumble strips. They cause accidents and should be done away with. The road should be smooth, and unless you’ve driven there yourself, it’s hard to understand.

I saw this, it was wild. They were on the other side of the road fyi. They were going so fast that when they hit the kerb in the middle of the road the car flew up so high it went over the other side of the road and that railing you see there and fell down the embarking

Hard drugs... there's a sign before those bumps

Don't blame the road. They were definitely speeding for the wreckage to be that bad.

They are already there ..
