News coming in from #Maldah district of #WestBengal. Today, Bangladeshi Muslims attacked Indian farmers and villagers in Sukdevpur village of #Maldah district. Indian villagers retaliated. BGB(Border Guard Bangladesh) didn't stop Bangladeshi Muslim citizens from coming to the borders. There are no fences along the India-Bangladesh International Borders in Sukdevpur village. A few days ago, BSF tried to make a fence along the border. But, BGB stopped the work by creating pressure.

Saravanaraja has resigned from his posts and left the country due to the life threats, pressures and harassments he has faced since delivering the order on #Kurunthoormalai issue. The Department of Archeology has been trying to build in violation of the court order a Buddhist Temple in Kurunthoormalai. The order concerned declared that the Director of Department of Archeology had repeatedly violated three court orders previously issued and tried to build a Buddhist vihara illegally. Since delivering the said order, honourable judge T. Saravanaraja has been subjected to constant harassment and threats. Here is what he told the media about this: 🚨 “Constant pressure was applied by the government to reverse the orders I had issued in Kurunthoornalai case. 🚨Members of Parliament such as Sarath Weerasekera and others belonging to the majority community have issued threats against my life, both in Parliament as well as outside it. 🚨The police protection afforded to me (the judge) was recently reduced, whilst the intelligence officers continued to surveil me. 🚨 The Attorney General invited me (Judge) to meet him in his office on 21.09.2023 and during the meeting he compelled me to reverse the orders that I had issued in the Kurundurmalai case. 🚨Moreover, two cases have been filed against me personally in the Court of Appeal in connection with the Kurunthoormalai case. I have had to resigned from all my much beloved judicial posts due to life threats, pressures and harassments that I have been subjected to since delivering the order. The abovesaid are just a handful of examples of the threats, pressures and harassments I received." He said that he had sent the resignation letter to the Secretary of the Judicial Services Commission through registered post on 23-09-2023. This incident demonstrates the state of rule of law in the island. It was delightful to participate in the “Naam 200” event held in Colombo today to commemorate 200 years of the arrival of the Indian-origin community to Sri Lanka. Speaking to the Malayaga Tamil brothers & sisters today, had the opportunity to go down memory lane on the deep-trenched distress meted out to the Malayaga Tamils by the colonists, and that was undone by political stalwarts such as Thiru Kothamdarama Natesaiyar avl & Thiru Savumiamoorty Thondaman avl. Was elated to recall various welfare schemes implemented by the Government of India under the leadership of Hon Prime Minister of India, Thiru Narendra Modi avl, in SL, particularly for the Malayaga Tamils. During his maiden visit to Dickoya in 2017, PM Modi avl inaugurated the Hospital built at a cost of LKR 120 Crore & also handed over 4,000 houses built for Malayaga Tamils by GoI. 10,000 more houses will be handed over soon to the Tamils.
