Motorcycles Stolen in Ado-Ekiti Recovered in Owo, Ondo state After Owner Tracks Down One of the Bikes. A motorcycle stolen in Ado Ekiti this morning was recovered in Owo, Ondo State, after the owner tracked it using a built-in location device, leading police to arrest some suspects while also recovering four stolen bikes in the process. According to an eyewitness, the bike belonging to a young man in Ado Ekiti was noticed missing around 6:00 a.m. today from a fenced compound in Falegan area of Ado Ekiti. The intended use of the item remains unclear as of the time of filing this report. The arrested suspects were immediately taken into custody for further investigation and interrogation. The incident has renewed calls for motorcycle owners in Ekiti to install location trackers, amid a recent rise in reports of bike and vehicle thefts in the state. My take on this is I feel more officers should take the time to educate the E-bike riders and let them know the consequences of riding in the street and why it’s illegal to do so. So much misinformation about them is out there and I know most kids are gonna do it anyways because they don’t care but it could stop some from doing it. This officer explains to him what’s going to happen to them if they keep riding the E-bikes in the street. This gives them fair warning in advance that they are going to be ticketed and have their bikes impounded. Many parents don’t pay attention to what their kids do until it affects their pockets. People are criticizing the police for targeting them and labeling them a nuisance. If I saw a group of 30 bikes blocking the road and acting reckless, I would be concerned as well. Even as kids we knew that stealing was wrong yet another kid stole my bike. It was a big deal because we were poor, just came to this country for a few years and my parents saved up to get me a bike. I loved that thing, I used to ride it all around the neighborhood for hours. So naturally when somebody took it, I was devastated. Turned out it was another kid nearby and I was lucky enough to get it back. Many of my friends who had their bike stolen wasn’t so lucky. Just one of those things you live and learn, luckily for me I won’t have to deal with it with my kids, they don’t like riding bikes at all. Has this ever happened to you? Ever have your bike stolen? Ever get it back? I think everyone has had this happen at least one in their life, just something we all have to deal with I guess.

It was just her second ride and she had cycled 25km with Mr Archer, from Canada, before buying coffee and a pastry from Bartons. The pair had just finished their drinks and were preparing to leave the shop. After the theft at 10.55am it took more than an hour for police to reach the shop. Around 35 minutes after the bike was stolen, four uniformed officers entered Bartons but only to order coffee, not to investigate the crime. Mr Bassi said: 'We had a police van turn up with several officers and we thought they had come to deal with this crime but they had just come for coffee and they said 'oh, I'm sure somebody will turn up soon'.
