Ed Miliband implies Corbyn is banned for antisemitism, which isn’t mentioned in Starmer’s motion. Decade ago Corbyn was only Labour MP to defend Miliband’s (deceased) dad in media from attacks. Normal people can’t do this. Politics is a mucky business!

If you want honourable behaviour politics isn’t the right place to look. But Labour is the worst organisation I can think of in terms of gap between how MPs behave & who they think they are. ‘I must be nice, I’m a progressive!’ has no relationship to morals of normal people.

For a normal person if someone defended your dad from the onslaught Ralph Miliband was subject to you would, at the very least, only attack or criticise them for reasons others have set up rather than contrive new ones. But British politicians aren’t normal people.

The problem for Ed Miliband is that he knows that Starmer's student union bog-standard motion, calls for Corbyn to be barred for losing a General Election. Which is of course what Ed managed to do as well.

Jeremy Corbyn MP weighed in on a sparsely-attended Parliamentary debate to mark 90 years since the Battle of Cable Street, at which in 1936 Jews and their allies stood up to the British Union of Fascists and stopped their hate march. Mr Corbyn – the man under whose leadership the Labour Party was found by the Equality and Human Rights Commission to have illegally discriminated against Jews – had thoughts to share. He praised the fact that at Cable Street, ordinary people (he doesn’t mention that they were Jews) stood up to the fascists. He recounted how “all of officialdom said to the people of the East End: ‘shut up, do nothing about it and let them march.” But Mr Corbyn seems not to realise that today, the same officialdom – including politicians like him – tells the descendants of those Jews at Cable Street to shut up and let the Palestine hate marches march. The story is the same, and so are the Jewish victims. The difference is that Mr Corbyn speaks at the hate marches, rather than opposing them. For shame.
