The economics of onshore wind simply no longer work in much of England and Wales. Without huge price increases there is zero chance you can reach the target. There's zero chance anyway, but let's not be picky.

Tell theses people how happy they should be

I grew up in sight of an onshore wind farm in Durham - didn't stop me having an incredibly happy childhood, and doesn't stop the area from being, unarguably, the country's most beautiful county

A task force you say? A new one? My word. Isn't Labour just beating back that reputation for committees and bureaucracy?

Oh look, another humanities student policy wonk commenting on engineering issues. Great. Not. As long as policy wonks set the agenda, energy policy in the UK is at risk of failing industry and people wholesale.

YOU DONT BUILD IN FARMLAND!!!!!!!

Bad news.

Will there be a focus on Community Energy Projects to ensure that local communities receive a fair share of the significant financial rewards from onshore wind?

As I understand it that's a big focus of Great British Energy, and they've ringfenced funding specifically to help community energy projects.

Meanwhile, the sun capital of the world, UAE, have opted for nuclear🤡
