Eddie Murphy reveals he was offered the role Chris Tucker played in Rush Hour Speedy: “Is it true that you were once offered the role Chris Tucker played in Rush Hour?” Eddie Murphy: “Yes” “Did I say Holy Man is one of my worst movies? That's the movie I did instead of Rush Hour. They came to me and it was two scripts. It was Rush Hour and it's gonna be an action comedy with Jackie Chan... and this other one was me in a robe in Miami” “I was like, ‘Man…This is a no-brainer.’ We went to Miami and made a horrendous film”

John Landis was offended by an article he read about Jewish comics in blackface at the time of making "Coming to America" (1988) & he thought it was really ignorant. So, he called Eddie Murphy & told him that he has to play the role of an old Jew in the movie. At first, Murphy couldn't believe it, but was willing to give it a go. After putting on the make up of an old Jewish man designed by Rick Baker, Murphy walked around the Paramount offices flirting with secretaries and telling everyone, "Hi, I am Eddie Murphy". No one recognised or believed him. One old lady was really convinced that he was an old man & gave him her phone number. After that he was confident that he could play the role convincingly. (John Landis' interview with Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub, Collider, 2005, "Eddie Murphy & Arsenio Hall on Friendship & Coming 2 America", Jimmy Kimmel Live, 2021 & IMDb)

Gary King Pokemon says he would REVOLUTIONIZE PSA if they made him CEO… “With confidence I can say that if they turned it over to me, within four months I would have the turnaround time down to 30 days, and I would have the price per card for bulk back down to 15 dollars. Eddie Murphy was only 20 years old when he starred alongside Nick Nolte in 48 hours. This was a groundbreaking film that spawned dozens of buddy cop films (for better or worse). You can’t easily replicate the chemistry Murphy had with Nolte. It’s why 48 Hours is so special.

In contrast Bolin runs toward a lava flow, SHUTS HIS EYES, stops it, pushes it back, cools it down, and says the equivalent of “well that just happened.” No training, nothing. He didn’t even know he could do it, and he does it perfectly, with his eyes shut.
