Editing our writing is a common academic task. I *hate* how spell/grammar checks annoy me by thinking proper nouns or LaTeX code are misspellings (yes, I want `` ''). I also want *style* tips like a good editor would give me. Problem solved. 1/5

I spun up this small web app that you can see in the video. My workflow? Load in your document, then run "spelling and grammar" for generic (but smart!) fixes, then run your preferred style editor. You can use mine ("Literary Nonfiction") or create you own. 2/5

Style rules are 1000s of words trying to match preferences of, say, John McPhee at the New Yorker editing academic text. After a couple minutes, you get responses back in a "diff" form- accept with Enter, reject with Backspace, or edit the green text directly. It is SO QUICK. 3/5

Some little tricks too - highlight a theorem + proof and "check proof" option appears (I'd use this only if you have a paid Google billing account so we can use the best models). Highlight text? "Simplify" appears, giving you a few options that still keep technical content. 4/5

and you can use it yourself. Best editor for academic LaTeX I know of, paid or not. By the way: with my LLM dev workflow (a lot of which I learned from making sign up for your summer courses!), this took me one evening to make. 5/5

Btw, just download that index.html file plus and you can run this directly on your computer if you're worried for some reason about pasting in your API key (but you can see in the code it's not being sent anywhere anyway, so either way it's totally safe!)

Awesome! Is here something similar to batch-check citations? I manually go through mine to avoid typos, but there’s probably a better way…

I would probably just give the bib file to an llm with web search and have it do a pass
