Inmates should only be returned to the city or town from which they were picked up. I would even be okay with the city footing the bill for this. In the long run it would be cheaper for us.

Work programs, instead of hiring immigrants, hire a half way house guy. Kick out immigrants from low cost housing. Get these guys good jobs and they can leave. Serve your own before others.

What do you think used to happen when the Remand Centre was downtown? We'd release them right out the front doors. If they were from outside Edmonton they'd be released along with a Greyhound bus ticket back to where ever they came from.

It's disgraceful how they are released. Friend I knew was picked up when it was pouring rain. His wet clothes were bagged and stored for two weeks. Then he had to dress himself in moldy fucking clothes to be dumped off at the Clareview transit centre where he had to go source new clothes while in completely inhumane state. We need to do better. Not everyone who goes into the system is a piece of shit, but judging by the comments, some of you think that, and that's disturbing.

Just give them a bus ticket to Vancouver. Problem solved

better they are dropped off downtown with the rest of the bums and criminals than letting them walk out the front door of the prison/jail into the suburb neighborhoods. I have family that live out in sturgeon county and some days there are ex cons that are just strolling around the subdivisions.

NOT OUR PROBLEM anymore. If YOU want to help them out, then step up and open your fuckin' doors ANDREW.... LEAD BY EXAMPLE. Don't pretend you are a fuckin' moral authority if you are not willing to do that simple thing.

What does he expect? He wants them dropped off at the Marriot? Like wtf, really? In Calgary, they drive them to the ctrain station, hand them a bus ticket & send them on their way. Once they’re done their time that’s it. Drop them off at his house then. He cares so much.

They’re being dropped off where there’s shelters and support. Where else are they supposed to be dropped off? Once they’re out of custody they’re free to go wherever they want. Also, has the mayor looked at a map lately? Edmonton is central, of course it’ll have more facilities.

Why does Edmonton need to spend money on these people? The middle of Edmonton is a reasonable place to drop someone off.
