After 30 years of disinvestment in higher education, the cost to attend our colleges and universities has skyrocketed. We needed to do better. That’s why Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Education and his team went to work — and presented a blueprint to make higher education more affordable and accessible for all Pennsylvanians. And after Democrats and Republicans came together, we invested more in our HBCUs, community colleges, and Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education institutions — all while investing more money in new scholarships to help bring down the cost of higher education.

Earlier today, a team of experts from the Higher Education Council (HEC) conducted a follow-up assessment at Mount Kigali University to evaluate the implementation status of recommendations from the 2025 institutional audit, reinforcing continuous quality enhancement in higher education. The exercise forms part of HEC's statutory mandate to monitor compliance with national higher education standards, strengthen institutional quality assurance systems, and support higher learning institutions in delivering quality education that is responsive to Rwanda's development priorities.

In elementary and secondary education, the institution chooses the student, and the student has to adapt. Choice and competition is what makes the difference. Deputy Prime Minister /Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Ishaq Dar chaired a Committee meeting to review the existing Guidelines for the Establishment of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Pakistan. The committee reviewed the draft 2026 HEC Regulatory Framework for the Establishment and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Pakistan, in the light of direction given by the committee in the last meeting .The revlevant stakeholders provided a detailed briefing to the Committee about the work they have carried out in this regard. The committee appreciated the efforts of the Higher Education. DPM/ FM directed HEC to incorporate further recommendations provided by this committee in today’s meeting and submit the revised draft to the Ministry of Federal Education for onward submission to the Federal Cabinet for approval. DPM/ FM while highlighting government’s commitment towards quality education stated that strengthening Pakistan’s higher education system and impartting knowledge through highest standards of quality, transparency, and excellence is the hallmark of this government. The Meeting was attended by Ministers of Law , IPC and Education and Professional Training, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Federal Secretaries, HEC team , Rector NUST senior government officials and relevant stakeholders.
