Everyone knows Helen Keller's name, but the real miracle worker behind the legend is Anne Sullivan She was raised in crushing poverty as the daughter of Irish immigrants, lost her mom young to tuberculosis, dealt with near-blindness from a painful eye disease starting at age 5, and then her alcoholic father abandoned her and her brother. At just 10, they were sent to the notorious Tewksbury Almshouse, an overcrowded, underfunded poorhouse full of unspeakable horrors, abuse, and despair. Her little brother died there within months, leaving Anne completely alone in what she later called an "earthly hell", but Anne's unbreakable strength and perseverance turned all that pain into purpose. She fought for her education, got into Perkins School for the Blind, graduated at the top of her class, and then took on teaching 7 yr old Helen Keller in 1887. Today, I joined Alupe University in celebrating its 4th Congregation for the Conferment of Degrees and Award of Diplomas, where I congratulated the 439 graduands for their hard work and perseverance. I reaffirmed that Alupe University must continue to uphold its identity as an international centre of excellence and resist any form of localization. I reminded the graduands that their peers are global, competing with students from institutions like Harvard and Oxford and emphasized the need for strict meritocracy in university leadership, continuous modernization of teaching methods, and the protection of diverse academic programs from short-term market pressures. I also addressed the financial crisis facing public universities, which collectively owe over KSh 80 billion, noting that Kenya has sufficient resources but is hindered by financial indiscipline, mismanagement and inefficiencies. I reiterated that education is a constitutional right under Article 53 and questioned the continued use of fee structures that contradict this guarantee. I encouraged Alupe University and other institutions to bring their reform proposals to the Senate, and I remain committed to championing bold, competitive, and globally respected universities across Kenya.

Forced to live far away from Afghanistan after its collapse, I faced the painful reality of displacement, uncertainty, and the struggle to rebuild and start everything from zero and scratch in a foreign land. Yet, through it all, my determination never wavered. This degree is more than an academic achievement; it is a symbol of my unwavering dedication to fighting for women’s rights and standing up for those whose voices have been silenced. The plight of Afghan women, deprived of their fundamental freedoms, fuels my resolve to be an advocate for justice, equality, and change. Every challenge I overcame, every moment of doubt I pushed through, was made possible by the support and encouragement of my father. Together, we launched the Urdu translation of his inspiring book SCRIPT, a vision of leadership built on Sustainability, Care & Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Prosperity and Trust. We also reflected on Allama Iqbal’s philosophy that the strength of a nation and the destiny of its people lie in the awakening of the self. It is through faith, effort, and perseverance that people shape their destiny. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement for import of halal meat worth USD 200 million is a welcome step that will further augment our engagement in this promising sector. Together, we launched the Urdu translation of his inspiring book SCRIPT, a vision of leadership built on Sustainability, Care & Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Prosperity and Trust. We also reflected on Allama Iqbal’s philosophy that the strength of a nation and the destiny of its people lie in the awakening of the self. It is through faith, effort, and perseverance that people shape their destiny. They finally "married " together. From this moment forward, we officially enter a new chapter that I proudly name: The GCV Economy Era With this milestone, the Pioneer’s Handbook reaches its conclusion. This is my 118th article. In Chinese culture, 118 symbolizes prosperity and good fortune—a perfect symbol for closing one historic chapter and opening another. These final words are dedicated to all pioneers, merchants, ambassadors, envoys, and warriors whose unity, discipline, and perseverance made the GCV dream a reality. --- 1. The Origin of GCV — A Seed Planted in China The GCV Movement began in China, nurtured by pioneers with vision, courage, and deep study. In February 2022, Mr. Rong Zhang Bao launched the Pi Network International Seminar, calling pioneers to study Pi deeply, understand its mission, and define its economic value. After months of collective research and surveys, Chinese pioneers established the foundational consensus value: $314,159. In May 2022, Mr. Bao Rong Zhang and I, together with Nigerian pioneer Mr. Woody, launched three international Twitter Space conferences. Mr. Woody's influence helped introduce GCV to tens of thousands of pioneers worldwide, marking the true beginning of GCV's international journey. I would like to acknowledge Mr. Rong Zhang Bao, former community leader in China, as the founder of GCV, Mr. Woody Lightyear, former community leader in Nigeria, as a key supporter of GCV at early stage Their contributions during the early stages of GCV in 2022 were essential. The early path, however, was not easy. GCV faced misunderstandings, attacks, misinformation, and division. My speeches were removed from groups. Leaders became confused or misled. Some pioneers, lacking education, turned toward black markets. At that point, I made a deliberate decision: I stepped back from global expansion and devoted one full year exclusively to the China community. During that year, Chinese merchants contributed nearly USD 10 million worth of products through GCV barter. However, because pioneers had no Pi available in their wallets, many transactions relied on contracts without Pi or fiat settlement. This created no usable GCV data, and eventually many merchants—unable to sustain operations—left the movement. From this experience, one truth became clear: > Sustainability is essential. Passion alone is not enough. We must be rational, prepared, and educated. To succeed, we must: Use partial Pi + partial fiat Build education before expansion Protect merchants as carefully as pioneers If pioneers only demand from merchants, the economy cannot survive. If merchants collapse, GCV collapses. This realization is why I began writing the Pioneer’s Handbook—to align pioneers and merchants under one sustainable economic vision. --- 2. Expanding Beyond Borders — The Global Rise of GCV By 2023, it became clear that China alone could not generate sufficient global GCV data. GCV had to rise worldwide. Many pioneers who doubted GCV did so not out of malice—but from lack of study or misunderstanding of economic authority. In the Platinum Jubilee Year of IIT Kharagpur, we proudly celebrate a defining moment as our distinguished alumnus, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, addressed the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Opening his remarks with a personal reflection, he shared, “Every time I visit, I’m struck by the pace of change, and today is no different. Back when I was a student, I often took the Coromandel Express from Chennai up to IIT Kharagpur. To get there, we passed through Visakhapatnam.” From his humble journey as a student to unveiling a transformative vision for India’s technological future, this trajectory stands as a powerful testament to purpose, perseverance, and global leadership. At the summit, Sundar Pichai announced Google’s plan to establish a full-stack AI hub in Visakhapatnam as part of a $15 billion infrastructure investment in India—further positioning the nation at the forefront of the global AI movement. He underscored that AI will undeniably reshape the workforce, automating certain roles, evolving others, and creating entirely new careers. He also highlighted breakthroughs such as AlphaFold by Google DeepMind, which compressed decades of protein-structure research into a publicly available database now used by millions of researchers worldwide, demonstrating how AI can accelerate scientific discovery at an unprecedented scale. As an institution that rose from the historic Hijli Detention Camp to become India’s first IIT, IIT Kharagpur embodies resilience, vision, and nation-building.
