I've been saying the same thing about the early Smashing Pumpkins since the early 1990s. Corgan's bright idea was to kick out the drummer whose tone and playing and especially snare sound on the first record made his band famous. There's a reason the first track on the first record starts with just the drums and not one of Corgan's screeches. Whose work on the less impressive second record was still so brilliant that no one but me noticed what a pathetic emo whiner Corgan was and that, like Michael Stipe, he was a much better singer when mumbling unintelligibly. It's as if Jagger had kicked out Richards after, say, Sticky Fingers for being too smacked out. It's rock and roll ffs! Drugs are known to exist!

Also, not all these gen Z children hating on Alex Ebert when he also wrote the theme song to their favorite show, Suits.
