Transforming Connectivity: PCMC Approves Major Road Development Projects for Punawale, Tathawade, and Wakad. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has greenlit a series of critical road development projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in fast-growing areas like Punawale, Tathawade, and Wakad. As these neighborhoods experience rapid urbanization and industrial growth, the need for wider, more efficient roads has become essential. The plan specifically targets easing traffic bottlenecks in Ward 25, particularly in high-traffic zones such as Bhumkar Chowk and Bhujbal Chowk in Wakad. Once completed, these upgrades will bring significant relief to residents and commuters by cutting down travel time and boosting road safety. The new infrastructure will feature organized parking spaces, pedestrian-friendly footpaths, and efficient drainage systems to mitigate waterlogging during the monsoon season. Looking ahead, PCMC’s 5-year capital investment plan will prioritize infrastructure growth in rapidly developing areas such as Wakad, Dudulgaon, Dighi, Mamurdi, Kiwale, Punawale, Tathawade, Moshi, Chikhali, Charholi, and more, ensuring the city's expanding population is supported with robust and sustainable urban development. #PCMC #MyPCMC #traffic #road #UrbanGrowth #RoadDevelopment #Connectivity #Infrastructure #pune पिंपरी चिंचवड महानगरपालिका Official PCMC Smart Sarathi PCMC Commissioner

MMRDA’s vision of transforming Thane into a major mobility-led economic hub has crossed another crucial milestone, with pile foundation and pier construction work for the creek portion of the Gaimukh–Payegaon Bridge nearing completion. As per the latest update, piling work along the Thane Creek portion is now over 95% complete. Pier erection and pier-cap construction are also progressing rapidly, while work has advanced at both the Gaimukh and Paye–Payegaon ends of the project Overall, around 25% of the project has now been completed. The 6.5-km creek bridge is a key link in the multimodal mobility network being developed by MMRDA to transform connectivity across Thane and the wider region. The network brings together multiple road, metro rail and tunnel projects, planned as part of an integrated approach to regional mobility. The bridge will connect Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road with Chinchoti and Payegaon, creating a more direct connection to Bhiwandi, Vasai and the northern parts of the MMR. Ghodbunder Road is already one of Thane’s busiest transport corridors, carrying traffic between the city, Mumbai’s western suburbs, Mira-Bhayandar and the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway. At present, commuters travelling from Thane towards Chinchoti, Payegaon or Vasai have to cross the ghat section at Ghodbunder, where traffic is further affected by the movement of heavy vehicles. The creek bridge will allow this ghat section to be bypassed completely, creating a faster and more direct route for commuters and freight movement. The bridge will also strengthen connectivity with several major transportation projects, including the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail, Thane Coastal Road, Virar–Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, Diva–Vasai railway line, National Highway 48 and the Anjur–Chinchoti Road, among others. More than a bridge, the Gaimukh–Payegaon Creek Bridge is a critical link in building a connected mobility ecosystem for Thane, strengthening its position as a major mobility and economic hub. #MMRDA #Thane #GaimukhPayegaonBridge #InfrastructureDevelopment #ReimaginingMMR #MumbaiInMinutes #IntegratedMobility #ViksitMaharashtra CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR PIB India

Major Project Update: Thane Coastal Road-1 crosses 40% completion milestone in 14 months Thane Coastal Road-1 is advancing at a strong pace, with foundation work, pier-cap casting and I-girder erection progressing rapidly across the corridor. As of September 2, 40 per cent of the project's work has been completed, with 77% (332 of 426) working piles completed and 65% of piers (277/426) and 460 pier caps cast already. The I-girder erection has also progressing rapidly with 501 out of 1,632 (approx 30%) girders already erected. Also, 13 deck-slab spans have been completed. 👉 The 13.45 km, six-lane, access-controlled greenfield corridor, coming up between Kharegaon Toll Naka and Gaimukh, is being built using cutting-edge engineering. For the first time in India, a greenfield road project is using a single-pile, single-pier system with monopile foundations on land. 👉 Designed as a strategic freight corridor, the project will decongest Ghodbunder Road and improve connectivity between NH-160 (Mumbai–Nashik Highway) and Gaimukh along the Thane Creek coastline, with major stretches on viaducts and bridges to safeguard the sensitive mangrove ecosystem. It will provide faster, safer and more convenient connectivity for traffic travelling towards Thane, Nashik, Bhiwandi, Gujarat, and North India. The project comprises a 240 m long creek bridge and an 8.11 km long elevated road passing through mangrove areas. A 40 to 45 m wide Development Plan (DP) road has been reserved for the project, which will facilitate segregation of local and inter-city traffic on Ghodbunder Road. 👉 Further at Gaimukh, the road will directly connect with the upcoming Gaimukh–Fountain Hotel Tunnel, enabling seamless Thane–Bhayander connectivity. Together, these projects will significantly decongest Ghodbunder Road, transform urban mobility in Thane, and strengthen freight movement towards Wadhawan Port, JNPT, South Maharashtra, and Karnataka. 👉 The corridor will also integrate with key future infrastructure projects including the Thane Ring Metro, Thane Coastal Road-2, the Saket–Amane Elevated Corridor, and the Kasarvadavali–Kharbhav Road, cementing its role as a critical backbone of the region’s next-generation transport network. #ThaneCoastalRoad #MMRDA #InfrastructureIndia #MumbaiInMinutes #ReimaginingMMR #TransformingMMR #UrbanMobility #BuildingTheFuture #MumbaiMetropolitanRegion #TransportInfrastructure #FastForward CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR PIB India Press Trust of India

Launched the World Bank-assisted MahaSTRIDE project today in Nagpur, a key milestone in our mission to make Maharashtra a $1 Trillion economy. Over the past 5 years, Maharashtra’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has reached ₹45 lakh crore. However, it is concerning that nearly 50% of this contribution comes from just 7 districts. This imbalance must be addressed. Our vision demands that every district becomes a growth engine. Through MahaSTRIDE, each district will now be treated as an independent economic unit with its own District Strategic Plan, backed by real-time data, resource mapping, and performance benchmarks. We aim to grow the state’s GSDP by ₹35 lakh crore in the next 5 years, and this will only be possible when all districts contribute actively and equitably. A GDP clock at Mantralaya will track this journey in real-time measuring how each district is progressing, and where course correction is needed. Ease of doing business, private investment, and data-driven decision-making will be central to this transformation. We must build an ecosystem where governance enables, not obstructs, where entrepreneurs feel empowered, not encumbered. MahaSTRIDE will give every district the wings to fly. Now it's up to each of us to ensure that potential turns into performance, and aspirations into achievement.
