The fan was battery powered or used another electricity source. That generator at most lights a small light bulb. Most energy is lost in friction.
Why would you need a fan next to the stream?

Operating an AC fan with DC current? Wow😎

Most people don't know this but you can actually earn extra money while you exercise. Selling the electricity generated from a stationary bike back to the grid can EASILY generate $36.50 over the course of 10 years if you just bike every day for 1 hour.

Waste of energy. Connect the bucket directly to the blades, to make them apin.

Imagine thinking this would work.

Cool I just have to find a mini concrete aqueduct near me

If you had a way to store up the energy generated it would be super useful

Thousands of years of old tech called a "water wheel", don't keep it a secret now

In 2012 the Oak Ridge National Labs produce a report saying how easy, cost effective, and clean it would be to convert the US's more than 80,000 non-powered dams (NPDs) to produce electricity. We could produce 100s of years of pure, clean energy!
