Newark, NJ An investigation is underway after a shooting at a recording studio left two people dead and two others injured, in Newark on Wednesday. People who live and work on Clinton Avenue told Eyewitness News they often hear music coming from a recording studio on the block, but on Wednesday night, the music was drowned out by the sound of gunshots. The recording studio, Platinum Sound, is on the ground level of an apartment building, and sandwiched between a hair salon and a supermarket. One man who was shot died at the scene. A second man who was shot was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two other male victims were wounded by gunfire, and were taken to the hospital in stable condition. The victims have not yet been identified.

Bruce already had over 70 tracks ready, but manager Jon Landau insisted that a great single was missing. Bruce got pissed off, said something like, "I've written 70, if you want another one, write you," but ended up going to the hotel room and writing the whole song in one night. It became the biggest hit of his solo career: #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it spent 4 weeks in the top 2 prevented from reaching the top 1 because of Prince's When Doves Cry). The legendary video, directed by Brian De Palma, was shot during a real show in St. Paul, Minnesota, Bruce pulls a "fan" from the audience to dance with him on stage... and that fan was young Courteney Cox.
