LMAO this is exactly how corrupt small-town politics works. Ten million taxpayer dollars just f***ing vanish like a magic trick and the mayor’s answer is “move on”? Nah, sweetheart, that’s not leadership, that’s covering your ass. Imagine stealing from a bank and then telling the cops, “We can’t go back, let’s just move forward.” That’s not how accountability works. Somebody signed those checks, somebody moved that money, and somebody’s gonna end up squirming when the receipts surface. This isn’t “we can’t go back.” This is “we don’t want you to look back.” Which means the dirt’s buried deep, and it stinks like hell.

That’s not leadership, that’s a cover-up. You don’t “move on” from missing millions, you find out who stole it.

This isn’t shocking because “it happened again”, even in Texas. It’s shocking because the population of Elgin (an hour outside of Austin) as of 2024, is 12,438 people! How do you lose almost $1m per 1,000 people in your population?? THAT is the disproportionate stat here!!
