the statement inflates her authority and frames it as broader than it actually is. The New York AG does not have blanket jurisdiction over the U.S. stock market, which is primarily regulated by federal agencies — especially: SEC and CFTC Trading activity on platforms like NASDAQ or NYSE is regulated federally, not controlled by New York State. The Martin Act does not give the AG power to unilaterally regulate or intervene in lawful trading unless there’s evidence of fraud or misrepresentation directly involving New York-based entities.
