I Will Explain What Elon Musk Means in a Very Simple Way Elon Musk is saying that when the government spends too much money, it makes everything more expensive. Imagine you have a pizza with 8 slices. If suddenly there are 16 people instead of 8, but still only one pizza, each person gets a smaller piece. That’s what happens when the government prints more money-there’s more money in the system, but the value of each dollar goes down. This is why your paycheck buys less than it did before. Now think about grocery prices. When the government spends more than it earns, it prints extra money to cover the gap. But businesses know that more money is floating around, so they raise prices. That’s why your groceries, gas, and rent keep getting more expensive. Your paycheck might still be the same, but it buys you less. That’s the “invisible tax” of inflation-caused by the government spending too much and making your money weaker.

When they print more dollars to fund endless programs, more money competes for fewer goods and services, and prices rise as the inevitable result. So the higher costs you feel are what happens as a consequence of inflation, after the government inflates the money supply.
