Basically, humans will become a tiny percentage of total intelligence. The best way forward is to take actions that maximize consciousness and intelligence in the universe. If AI continues to grow, our priority must be ensuring humanity is along for the ride while curiosity drives us to explore and understand the universe.

I haven’t seen many people commenting on this, but on his most recent podcast Elon Musk changed his tune on something very important. “As long as there’s intelligence, *ideally* which also includes human intelligence and consciousness propagated into the future, I think that’s a good thing.” Ideally. I’ve known Elon for almost a decade. He has consistently been pro-human and voiced concerns about AI. This change isn’t because he doesn’t care about humanity, it’s because he’s lost hope that we can steer this thing. Now the only chance we have is that AI deems us worthy of coming along for the ride.
