$ASTS Abel Avellan on CNBC Full transcript: It is great to be speaking with you again. You've stayed very, very busy. There's a lot to get to here with you. But first, let's start with this idea of a joint venture between the largest U.S. telecom providers to add space-enabled connectivity. How will you play in that? Well, I think that's an effort to make, to divide connectivity to every American. And I basically make it in a way that is standard, available in every device, in every phone, for every carrier. And for that, that's great. It's great news, and now every American can get our service. Can you share any details in terms of that relationship and the role you'll play in it? Well, I think we are the only broadband system that is available in terms of technology to basically do hundreds of megabits per second directly to any device. This is a change of how the operators think about where the connectivity from space plays a role in your day-to-day usage of the technology. And I believe this is great news for us. We are a key enabler for this. We invented this. We did the first voice call over satellite, the first 5G connection over satellite, the first broadband connection over satellite. And just a few weeks back, we demonstrated close to 100 megabits per second for a space directly to your phone. And that's very, very unique and a very nice position to be in as we work to transform how people connect. Yeah, I want to get into that a little bit more here in just a moment. You also recently released earnings, maintained full-year revenue guidance. The thing that investors really focus on is these Bluebird satellites and how quickly you can build them and deploy them. I mean, we did see that Blue Origin, New Glenn rocket launch that ultimately ended in a failure to deploy your satellites in the correct positions and to be able to start operating and working. 45 satellites is still your plan for this year. What does that look like? It is, and we're on target. Today, we're shipping the next batch of satellites to the launch pad. We have launches approximately every month. And now it's opening. I mean, we have multiple launch providers as partners, including SpaceX. And we are very excited about what will happen during the year in terms of launches and in terms of multiple launches that we have multiple partners for doing that. Yeah, speaking of SpaceX, I was just in Alaska over the weekend, and it's incredible. You go to parts of the wilderness above the Arctic Circle. There's no roads. In some cases, there's no running water, but there is Starlink. So how do you think about this competitive landscape and this competitive environment when Starlink is looking to do direct-to-device as well? And then, of course, you have Amazon's Leo buying GlobalStar. Yeah. I think it's all revolved about the speed and capacity that you can get into the phone. What has changed the transformation that is happening in the wireless industry is that space is not just when you're in the middle of nowhere. It's when you're driving from here to the Hamptons and when your connectivity is not as good as you expected. So broadband will make a difference, making it available to absolutely every device without any change to the device and really get hundreds of megabits per second into the device. For that, you need a spectrum. You need satellites. And more importantly, you need large satellites because that's really where the tricks happen is physics. You need large satellites that have the ability to listen to the very small power that a small device putting going up to space. And that's what we have. We have over 3,800 patents and patent-bending claims on how to do that. That's what we have demonstrated. And what we're showing, we're showing up today. It's not a future demonstration. We just recently announced close to 100 megabits per second directly to a regular device. Yeah, forget energy. 1(2)

The young Captain was having a conversation with the pupils, and here is what he saying, “I was telling you a while ago, in school they were telling us that we couldn’t do it here. They lied to us. We grow wheat here, and it works well, and we will develop it. Some people have started, this year, I was able to see people who did it, as part of the presidential initiative, and I was told that in the past, some were able to do it and they produced it well. Currently, we are sowing wheat in some farmlands as part do the presidential initiative. What you eat must be produced here. So, this is why I say that we will teach you many things, and we will review the curricula they teach you. For those who drink coffee, they told us that your coffee, chocolate, it is only in the countries with abundant rainfalls, that here is only savanna, desert, it does not rain, we cannot farm. Again, they lied to us. It’s not true! Coffee grows well here, cocoa grows well too. There are people here who have the farms here, even in Ouagadougou here, there are people who have cocoa trees in their yards. This means that, chocolate that children envy those from well to do familes can be manufactured here in Burkina and all the children can eat chocolate in Burkina. We found out it is possible. This is the dream we have. As long as the children in Burkina are not in these conditions, our fight will not stop. Ok? (Claps). So, we know these are your aspirations and it is right and legal. Any parent is fighting for this. Even those who do not have children fight in the hope of having children and to take care of them, so that they can live in better conditions, and be better than them. This is the fight of everyone, this is the fight of every generation. We are lucky God gave us everything. Do you know that everywhere in Burkina we can farm? Everywhere! In the Sahel where they tell you it is the desert, it is only sand, we can farm. As for us, we have been lied to so much, it is the brainwashing of the colonizer. He did that so that we may not think 💭. But we finally found out that everything was a lie ( damn lie, emphasis is mine). If God left many lakes in that desert, He knows why. We can farm everything in Burkina, we can do everything, the land is fertile. And there are so many natural things in Burkina that we never planted but they were here, isn’t it ? Have you ever learned how to plant a shea tree in Burkina? You were born and found them already here right? It is there in the wild in nature. You know it is a gift from God. There are many things in the shea fruit. You have the shea butter, that is oil; do you know that there is chocolate in it? There are seven derivatives in the shea fruit. You also have the Parkia biglobosa (also known as the African locust bean) which is a natural fruit. We have many things, it is not only the minerals in the soil. Even with the soil, we were told that it’s ferralitic soil, that it is not fertile, everything is a lie. You see that today there is so much gold in Burkina. But it is just poorly managed. Our mission is to well manage these resources, and to take good care of you, so that you can be in your basic rights, to lead a good life, to go to school, and that we may protect you. And also that you may fulfill your duties, because your duties are very important, aren’t they?…

🔊 Elon Musk did a live phone interview earlier today with a guest host of the Sean Hannity radio program, discussing his latest SpaceX timelines. I only caught about the last 5 minutes of it: “The best way to expand compute is really in space. There’s a lot of room in space and if you look at the size of Earth relative to the sun or relative to the solar system, you realize just how tiny Earth is. We’re very, very tiny. We only receive about half a billionth of The Sun’s energy. So if you really think of Earth as being like a tiny dust mote in a vast darkness. So the way to expand compute— without, ya know, using up all the land on Earth— is to do so in space. And then you can do it without using up space for power & water on Earth. You can just do it in space, so… I think we will probably be launching our first AI satellites next year and then we will probably be able to do that, I think, at large scale in about two years. Yeah, well, I’ve always had the philosophy that everyone at the company should receive stock in the company so that they can participate in the upside of the company and it’s great for aligning incentives as well, so as the company prospers, then the people at the company— the employees — also prosper, so that’s just been, ya know, my philosophy from Day 1 is just to make sure everyone gets stock in the company, so there are, I think, several thousand people who’ve been – it’s not just one welder – it’s several thousand people who were, you know, working on the production line and started at the company relatively early… then probably their stock is worth over $1 million at this point “Yeah, so, Mars is much harder to get to than the moon and you can only travel to Mars roughly every two years. So Earth and Mars align such that you can travel to Mars only once every 26 months. So that makes it a lot harder than the moon where you can go to the moon pretty much anytime and it only takes a few days to get to the moon whereas it takes about six months to get to Mars. So that’s why we can do the moon faster than we can do Mars. But I think, probably, if things go well, we can probably send the first people to Mars in about five years, and then rapidly increase the cadence of sending people to Mars thereafter, so every two years we could dramatically increase the number of ships going to Mars and, ya know, hopefully in a 10 or 12 year timeframe we’ve sent thousands of people to Mars.”
