Thumb separates us from primates, will machines reach human dexterity? Amazing times, it’s always been the human hand 🧐

"But it should be real. I hope so, because robots will take our jobs, so humans can live better than they do now. UBI with digital money must be applied."

This is pure delusional hype. In July 2026 Optimus Gen 3 still isn’t in real production , it’s barely doing basic factory tasks like folding laundry in videos. Zero surgical dexterity, zero clinical testing, zero regulatory approval path. Claiming these things will outperform elite human surgeons in complex procedures by 2029 is fantasy, not engineering. If you actually agree with this, you’re either willfully ignoring reality or part of the cult that swallows every Musk prediction no matter how many deadlines he misses. Real surgeon shortages need more doctors, less bureaucracy, and better training , not waiting for unproven humanoid robots to magically fix healthcare. Follow me for grounded, logical takes instead of this sci-fi nonsense

We’re also getting inundated with “doctors” with faked credentials. It’s getting to a point where the only surgeon I’d trust is a robot.

Honestly the surgeon shortage part is real and underrated. If Optimus even gets to “reliably good,” that alone saves lives in places with zero access to specialists.

All teachings should be free. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc are necessary for all communities. Physical and mental health are important for all communities, which would vastly lower crime. We have to give to get back good civilisation, stop the dog-eat-dog

The neurosurgeon who operated on my spine 15 years ago used a robot type device thing. Apparently, it was the Cadillac of nerve cutters. Frankly, I'd trust Optimus prime over most humans. A robot doesn't care if you're an offensive, socially awkward, degenerate.

I’d trade my pre Optimus surgery life in a heart beat. I feel like absolute dog shit and all of this for some massaged fascia was worthless.

This will be good. Already many common surgeries are done using physician assisted/guided robotics. I assume that some more mechanical surgeries will be taken over first, and others, like the self-driving Tesla, will still be physician supervised for a time. Also, don't forget one thing that makes medicine so aggravating and unaffordable both to private individuals and to insurers and govt providers. That is the need for improvement of records and the improvement of nursing and ancillary parties. There are far too many inefficiencies and errors. Also with this great benefit to society, we have to figure out how to mitigate litigation and make sure we provide adequate warnings.

It will take a couple of decades for the robots to take over, but already many surgeries are done by robots. The question is, will humans retain that art and those skills or will we forever depend on machines from that point

"The world is currently facing a growing shortage of surgeons. Human doctors are limited by time, fatigue, and availability." Also, medical schools have been corrupted by politics just like the rest of Academia, and there is massive diploma fraud in third-world countries.

@elonmusk with another masterpiece. After losing trust in human doctors, hearing that Optimus will soon be a better surgeon is exactly what I needed. Thank you Elon for pushing medicine into a new era. The future looks promising! 🚀🙏🏻

Elon Musk just said there will be more Optimus robots outperforming the best human surgeons than there are surgeons on Earth. Within three years. Musk: “Three years at scale. Meaning there will be more Optimus robots that are great surgeons than there are all surgeons on Earth.” One robot matching a great surgeon is a milestone. Thousands surpassing them, in every hospital, at once, is the end of surgical scarcity. Those are not the same event. Musk: “It takes a long time for a human to become… and even then, the knowledge is constantly evolving, it’s hard to keep up with everything. Doctors have limited time, they make mistakes.” Fifteen years to produce one great surgeon. One pair of hands at the end of it. An entire career of mastery, bottlenecked because expertise lives inside a single body. Optimus doesn’t train for fifteen years. It learns once and replicates infinitely. The best surgeon alive can save one life at a time. Optimus takes that same precision and removes the ceiling. Every operating room. Every country. Simultaneously. Right now, your survival depends less on what medicine knows than on who happens to be available when you arrive. Geography. Timing. Luck. That’s what sits between you and the best possible care. A child born in rural sub-Saharan Africa and a child born in Manhattan have access to fundamentally different medicine. Not because the knowledge doesn’t exist. Because it’s trapped inside people who can only be in one place at a time. Every person who ever died waiting for a surgeon died while the knowledge to save them existed somewhere on Earth. It just wasn’t in the room. Musk just put a three-year deadline on solving that. We accepted surgical scarcity the way we accepted gravity. As permanent. As a fact of being human, something you endure, not a problem you solve. It was never permanent. It was a limitation no one had the technology or the audacity to remove. The greatest surgeon who ever lived is already dead. Everything they mastered is gone. The entire history of medicine was never defined by what we knew. It was defined by how few hands could do it. We spent ten thousand years building mastery inside things that die, and wondering why it was scarce.
