The intelligence density potential is vastly greater than what we’re currently experiencing.” The race everyone can see is physical. It runs on land, transformers, cooling, and silicon shipped by the ton. Musk: “I think we’re off by two orders of magnitude in terms of intelligence density per gigabyte.” Two orders of magnitude means a hundredfold. He’s measuring that against machines already running in data centers. Musk: “That’s just algorithmic improvement. Same computer.” Same silicon. Same power draw. A hundred times the intelligence packed inside, unlocked by understanding alone. Every industrial curve before this was tied to something you had to dig out of the ground. Understanding has nothing to mine, and ideas arrive faster than steel. Musk: “And the computers are getting better. That’s why I think it is a 10x improvement per year type thing. 1,000 percent.” Those are two separate curves. Denser software running on faster hardware, and the two multiply instead of adding.
