A lot of people say “but what about earth?”. Why do they think we can’t do two things at the same time?

This is absolutely true. And I dont understand why more people do not understand this concept. This is what we should be focusing on, not climate change.

Couple of points: 1) "If we do not become a multiplanet species, then eventually, at some point, something will happen to the planet." What if something happens to the Galaxy? Many are swollen by black holes. 2) "the Sun will actually expand and will destroy all life on Earth." Yeah, the whole solar system will go. 3) "becoming a multistellar species and having many star systems" There are no continuity guarantees, we know nothing about the universe. We can try to prolong the inevitable. The thrill is in the discovery, the journey.

The discovery and exploitation of AI may be the Great Filter that civilizations have trouble getting through.
